Andrew Branca, Esq.

Andrew Frank Branca is a licensed Massachusetts attorney with a legal practice focused exclusively on use-of-force cases (self-defense, defense of others, defense of property). Andrew began his practice of law in 1991, with an exclusive focus on use-of-force cases since 1998. Andrew holds a JD from the Hofstra University School of Law and a BA from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

While fully licensed to represent clients directly, today Andrew’s practice focuses largely on providing expert consultation to criminal defense attorneys around the country. Those attorneys are lead counsel on cases in which their clients are facing criminal and/or civil for a use-of-force event, and Andrew acts to advise and consult to those attorneys on these cases.

Andrew publishes and lectures extensively on use-of-force law in all 50 states, including more than a dozen published books, live and online full-day instruction courses, and scores of speaking engagements and public debates, including at the NRA Annual Meeting, the USCCA Expo, and prominent law schools such as UC Berkeley, Cornell Law School, and others.

He is also a frequent public legal analyst and commentator on prominent use-of-force cases, covering such cases extensively on such forums as National Review, Legal Insurrection, National Public Radio, and elsewhere. Andrew has also been cited as a source of use-of-force legal expertise by The Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post, and other news sources. He is also a co-host providing use-of-force legal insight on the Outdoor Channel’s television show The Best Defense.

In addition to being a lawyer, Andrew is also a life-long member of the gun community. He started competitive shooting as a youth in small-bore rifle, qualifying for All-State competition in New York. Today Andrew is a Master-class competitor in the International Defensive Pistol Association, where he is member #13, having played a modest role in the founding of IDPA.

Andrew is also a member of the Legal Advisory Board of the United States Concealed Carry Association, and a Benefactor-Life member of the National Rifle Association. He considers himself a Second Amendment absolutist, and believes that the Constitution merely acknowledges and protects an already existing Natural Right of self-defense.
